Bio: Ferronato Shen
A skilled and knowledgeable horsewoman with a diverse background, what most seems to stand out for people when working with Ferronato (besides her hair) is her ability to get to the heart of a problem or training issue. She has an honest, open, and very straightforward approach to solving problems and improving a rider’s skill and confidence. Her years as an equine massage therapist and body worker give her an added insight.
“In one lesson with Ferronato I learned more than in the past ten years of lessons I had taken with other trainers. Anyone who watches what she does with horses can’t help being impressed.” - Gen Loeser.
Ferronato’s style redefines the horse/human relationship by acting as an interrupter on behalf of the horse. Ferronato is able to customize a training program that not only improves performance, but enhances the overall wellbeing of the horse. She combines her training knowledge with massage and nutrition, along with consultations from top dental, naturopathic, and chiropractic practioners, as well as experts in the field of corrective shoeing.
“When I walk into a barn where I teach regularly, the horses I work tend to greet me even though I don’t hand feed them treats. That really means a great deal to me and tells me I am on the right track with their training. Horses need to be happy and healthy to maximize performance, but more important than winning I think is having a horse that is enjoying his job is what the relationship should all be about.”
